Gastown Hidden Stories Immersive Works- Georgia

Project type

Site-Specific Immersive Performance Art

Date

Feb 2024

Location

Vancouver

This immersive piece follows a disposable camera that travels through Gastown Vancouver while audience members are synced up to an audio track that recalls the inner thoughts of each specific character, revealing hidden stories of ordinary folk.

Georgia’s a baker who is on her break from her shift and she ponders about patience, the messiness of life, and the human-made concept of time while accepting the fact that she is young and she’s got the world at her fingertips. She isn’t ashamed that she is working a “grittier” job and the lack of respect people have for it. She preaches about the magic of being able to create anything she wants.

Georgia presents herself externally mature, edgy and intimidating, but hearing her inner monologue, there’s a vibrancy and optimism to her that she keeps hidden.
