Sunbleached Flowers

I’m very excited to announce my new single ‘Sunbleached Flowers’ out now on music platforms. I wrote this song when I was 16 when I was starting to feel the dismantling of my power as a young woman. There’s a lot of pressure on all fronts towards achieving perfection and most notably for women, preserving your youth for as long as possible. I’ve had to watch so many incredible older women be undermined and underestimated simply because they don’t look like how they did when they were 16, when the world preyed on their innocence, youth, and naivety.

The presence of a woman alone is controversial. Her thoughts, her voice, and even in the fantasy she exists in someone else’s’ mind. One day, she will be washed out by the same light that gave her life. That’s when the sunflowers will turn into sunbleached flowers. It’ll be another tragedy, to give someone their flowers too late when they spent their whole lives trying to show you exactly who they were. But it’s another calamity to give the green touch too soon to those who aren’t ready because they’ll spend the rest of their life trying to replicate the feeling of a momentary exaltation.
